Glass. Collection Catalogue

40,00 € tax incl.

The Catalogue presents all items gathered in the glassware collections of the Castle and the Ciechanowiecki Foundation. The first chapter is devoted to Polish glass, with special focus on groups of objects which can be attributed to specific Polish manufactories on the basis of their typical features and archival sources. In subsequent chapters, the Silesian glass and glass manufactured in the Czech glassworks , as well as a set of the German glass was described. Separate paragraphs were devoted to the Russian glasses and a single item of an English origin. Also a group of Masonic glass was isolated due to its specific iconography. The isolated group consists of glass pretending to be historical, imitating or copying the 18th century originals, and the complementing part was devoted to mirrors. This publication fills an important gap in the scientific literature and serves the idea of distributing the knowledge of the Polish museum collections.

The Catalogue has a bibliography and a glossary of glassware terminology, and is addressed not only to researchers and collectors of Polish glass but also to all admirers of that "poetic material".
