Photographer Ivan Alexandrov. Views of Moscow. Estates. Art Nouveau Mansions

25,00 € tax incl.

Ivan Nikolaevich Alexandrov (1860s-1930s(?)) – photographer whose work has become classic in the sphere of urban photography. He worked in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Alexandrov collaborated with the Imperial Moscow Archaeological Society documenting architectural monuments, and for the Publishing Society of  St. Eugenia, through which he was engaged in the production of photographic postcards. His work includes a unique series of photographs of Art Nouveau mansions commissioned by the architect F.O. Schechtel immediately after the construction of buildings. Of particular interest to researchers are Alexandrov’s photos documenting the Russian estates near Moscow, in the Smolensk and Vladimir Provinces: few buildings have survived amidst these ensembles, and the original, or «live», manor interiors of the palaces remain with us today only in these photographs.
