Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Manifesto for a new style

75,00 € tax incl.

This richly illustrated catalogue, accompanying the exhibition project of the Moscow Kremlin Museums, introduces to the Russian public the oeuvre of Charles Rennie Mackintosh (1868–1928) — an outstanding Scottish architect, painter and designer. It brings together Mackintosh's distinctive architectural drawings with his designs for interiors, furniture, decorative schemes, murals and textiles. It also illustrates his furniture (including the famous "Mackintosh chair") as well as his exquisite watercolours and drawings, including still lives and landscapes, posters and stencils, and the flower paintings he hoped would be seen as "beautiful, living things".

An introduction by Nataliya Danilova provides an overview of Mackintosh's aesthetic principles and their evolution from the 1880s to the 1920s. The book chronicles the development of Mackintosh's style through a review of many of his major architectural projects in Glasgow, Helensburgh, Northampton and others.
